subluxation; misalignment
How did I Get this Way

Accidents or injuries are the most common culprits for the cause of head/neck misalignment ("subluxation"). Trauma to the spine can cause the connective tissues that hold the structures of the spine together to tear. But these do not have to be "major accidents" like car or motorcycle crashes. Children fall down, teenagers play sports and we all trip. These small injuries can cause enough

imbalance that the rest of the spine will curve to compensate its natural effort to avert pain. Eventually, the body remains in this twisted position. Not surprisingly, this twisting of the body results in muscular imbalance and structural stress. When a car is out of balance, the tires wear unevenly. The body works in a similar way. If the body is out of alignment, the resulting abnormal movement results in progressive wear and tear. In time, degeneration of the spinal and adjacent skeletal structures will occur.

subluxation; misalignmentThe Upper Cervical Chiropractic doctor will look for misalignment in two evaluations of the patient. First, he evaluates the patient in a supine position, looking to see an indication of one leg appearing longer than the other. Then the patient is examined in a standing position, while the doctor is looking for a high and low hip or shoulder, a leaning of the body to the right or left, or a tilting of the head to one side or the other. Both of these are symtomatic of misalignment as the body seeks to offset the effects of the head's imbalance by shifting the body to compensate.

Such bodily distortion is not necessarily visible to the common observer. Rather, conditions develop as a result of the misalignments and the body's natural compensation. Conditions like, migraines, allergies and dizziness all can result from the head/neck misalignment and the nerves that are affected.

Chronic Neck and Back Pain Dizziness/Vertigo Fibromyalgia Herniated Discs
Migraines Multiple Sclerosis Parkinson's Scoliosis
